Kardionic is being performed at:
Saturday night 7:30pm (playing as a guest performer with Terry Gambarotto)
We will be at the whole conference if you have questions.
I’m currently a guest musician with Kardionic, a realtime A/V performance software environment written by Rocky G.
Kardionic is an interactive cinema piece that takes as its subject the human heart in its organic, energetic and spiritual dimensions. During the performance computer generated 3d models of the heart, it’s structures and blood cells, are animated and morphed in real time, alternating between naturalistic depictions and total abstraction.
I was pricing out EC2 and S3 on Amazon to see if it was feasible to run an MMO off of it, & it turned out to be rather expensive (~$70/ player/mo.), so I collected a pile of unused old parts & systems and am working on building it into a Ubuntu EC2 private cloud.
Physical assembly was about 5 hours, including testing of all the parts.
Even though the bootable USB Ubuntu keys are made from the same ISO, only the CDROM has easy cloud options as far as I could figure out.
Server Head
AMD_64 Dual Core Asus AiLife SLI/RAID board 6800GT
Ubuntu 10.4 4gig OCZ RAM 250 Meg boot HD (I have 4 open sata RAID
which I will eventually populate once I learn more LVM)
– installed and EC2 aware
To Be Done…
Move all physical cat5 cables to switch instead of Head Motherboard (currently has 5 ethernet ports).
Attach Nodes 1, 2 & 3 Celeron 1.7 Mhz 512/80
After I get all this done I am considering building a lowpower one based on Atom boards and see how that performs comparably. Would be really interesting to get a parallel CUDA setup with the ION chips in these.
